Reinier

Hello. My name is Reinier. I love fundraising and have been doing it enthusiastically since 2001.

In my career as fundraiser I’ve been privileged to work with amazing causes and people. First at Médecins du Monde, Médecins Sans Frontières and Greenpeace. And more recently with amazing clients like UNHCR, Save the Children, Oxfam Novib and many others.

They have inspired me to be the fundraiser I am today. And they have taught me key lessons in how to do it right. And I’m still learning every day.

The central theme in my work is how to build long term growth by servicing our donors. We need to value donors as much as we need value from them. And we need to do that with a donor-centric and data-driven approach where we make long term choices based on the lifetime value of our donors. The success of your fundraising depends on a combination of donor-centricity, controlling your data, authenticity in your communication, differentiation from other causes, great leadership and expertise development.

I've started Reinier Fundraising, so I can work and share my experiences with many more beautiful organizations. I've been successfully involved in interim management roles, program reviews, strategy advice, different types of coaching and recruitment advice. All with a focus on individual giving. In addition I have created the best planning tool for fundraisers to 'facilitate and force' data-driven fundraising in our sector: Forward for change.

Over the years I got so excited about this beautiful profession that I’ve launched several volunteer initiatives for the benefit of the fundraising community. Best known is 101fundraising, the award-winning international crowd-blog on fundraising. But also in The Netherlands I've founded several initiatives, like fondsenwerving.blog.
